primehammer folks intro: Ivan

We have already talked about our company culture and the values that drive us, and you have heard from primehammer team member David. Today you will read about Ivan, another engineer with 9 years of history with us.

How it started: When Ivan met David

What field do you work in?

I am a backend engineer mostly working with Ruby and Git. My main project is a learning platform for a large corporation, where I am part of a team comprised of three primehammer members and two external colleagues from Romania. The goal of this platform is learning through gamification.

When I first joined, nine years ago, I was on a FinTech project. I have worked through a few projects since then, and now I have been with the same client for five years.

How did you first cross paths with primehammer?

I have known David (primehammer founder) since university, although not personally, as he is older. He was recruiting for his company (a different one than primehammer), so I applied and got picked. I was then moved to primehammer a couple of months later.

Why primehammer: Ivan’s perks

What convinced you to stick with primehammer?

I enjoy the freedom I get from the flexible working hours and the remote work, and I prefer working in smaller teams, as we do in primehammer.

What is your favorite thing about primehammer?

The company culture – it really makes a difference to work in a positive environment. I love my teammates and I am really fond of the work I do with my client, which involves a lot of problem-solving.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve worked on recently?

The biggest challenge for me has often been stress management. Usually, it comes from a combination of the client’s expectations and the high pressure to perform that I put on myself. The way I deal with it is through rest and sport. Sometimes, I simply need to relax to feel better. Other times, sports are the answer to releasing the built-up tension.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I enjoy running. It keeps me healthy, and it’s a great way to release stress. My other hobbies include reading, taking photos of nature, listening to music, and playing videogames, and this year I had some fun building a home network and a smart home.
